19th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology - ISSPIT 2019, Ajman (United Arab Emirates). 10-12 December 2019

Summary:

This paper presents a co-designed solution with a specialized veterinary clinic and validated by a real case. It presents a prototype design for an orthosis that allows a dog with mobility problems and ataxic gait to walk. The design includes building sensors into the orthosis and developing the connectivity system, enabling the information to be accessible from a mobile terminal. Design validity has been assessed by in lab and in vivo trials, the results of which are detailed in this paper. Finally, the results of a usability test are presented through the evaluation of different parameters by veterinary professionals and owners.
